Suzuki 's 3-cylinder 2-strokes were very popular in the 1970s. With the three models GT750, GT550, and GT380, Suzuki offered triples in several segments.

The smallest of the triples was the GT380, a motorcycle that, despite its medium displacement, looked grown-up, not least because of the great exhaust system with 2 mufflers on each side. The GT380 was equipped with Suzuki's Ram Air System, a steel shroud that lay over the cylinder bank, and which helped to push cold air down onto the engine to improve cooling efficiency.

The GT380 was a technically robust machine for its time with a relatively advanced 3-cylinder 2-stroke engine, 6 gears and efficient air cooling. It was not particularly light, but well balanced for touring and road riding, with a relatively flat torque curve and a comfortable seating position for 2 people. Suzuki GT380 was in production from 1972 to 1978.
