The 70s; Rickman and Vetter's heyday

Riding a motorcycle into a headwind is tiring in the long run, and when the new generation of motorcycles entered the 70s, these were naked machines but with speed resources that literally gave you backlash. The solution was fairings in various varieties, from small handlebar fairings, to large touring fairings that provided protection from head to toe.

Fredrik's great Flathead

Some models achieve almost iconic status, such as Harley-Davidson Knucklehead. The model was Harley's first series-produced overhead-valve v-twin, and in the shadow of the icon stood what the Swedes refer to as "Storsidan", the side-vented 1200cc Flathead with the model name U. Now, however, the large side-vented Flathead is about to take over this position.
