From the Archives: YAMAHA RD350 LC

YAMAHA RD350 - FOCUSING THE ATTENTION ON TECHNOLOGY was the slogan in the brochure when Yamaha launched the new generation RD350LC in the 1980s.

When the RD series was launched in the early 1970s, Yamaha positioned itself as a manufacturer of fast 2-strokesIn competition against the likes of Suzuki T-350 and Kawasaki S2-350, Yamaha RD350 became a model to be reckoned with.

At the beginning of the 1980s, Yamaha took a big step forward in technological development, and the RD350LC was in every way a completely new motorcycle, compared to its predecessor from the 70s.

The 2-cylinder 2-stroke, now liquid-cooled, was still the core of the concept, but beyond that everything was new. With 63 hp to move 137 kg, the RD350LC was one of the fastest in its class, and since most of the competitors had ended their 2-stroke production, the RD350LC was a motorcycle that stood out from the crowd, both in terms of technology, design and, not least, performance.
