The prototype was ready as early as 1949, and 3 years later it went into production. There were very few motorcycle manufacturers who made unit engines with overhead camshafts at this time. The 2-cylinder 4-stroke engine with 488 cubic centimeters developed 28 hp at 5500 rpm, and with a 4-speed gearbox it reached a top speed of about 147 km/h. Jawa The 500 OHC was in production until 1958, and a total of about 7,200 copies were made, making the 500-cubic meter a very rare and sought-after Jawa classic.
