Meos Moto Morini 3 1/2 Sport

Axel Meo has a strong passion for Italian motorcycles, and the Moto Morini was a great fit for him, because as he says; “I am half Italian, and needed a hobby. When my friend was going to sell his bike, I couldn't resist buying it, and a dream has come true.”

Italian motorcycles are often associated with Moto Guzzi , Benelli , Laverda and Ducati . The truth is that in addition to the four aforementioned brands, the “boot” of the Mediterranean has fostered several motorcycle manufacturers. Moto Morini 3 ½ Sport is one of these, and was produced in the period 1973-1983.

Established in 1937

Moto Morini started producing 3-wheel trucks in 1937. When the war broke out, they, like many other industrial companies, converted production to military equipment. The scourge of war also hit Morini, and in 1943 the factory premises in Bologna were bombed by the Allies. When the war was over, Morini started rebuilding, and the first motorcycle was released the following year. This was a small 125cc 2-stroke, an affordable and simple everyday motorcycle. For Moto Morini, production and the range of models increased in line with economic development. 2-strokes, 4-strokes, racing models, sports machines and off-roaders gradually became part of the motorcycle production.

Moto Morini 3 ½ Sport

If we make a leap forward in time, and move forward to 1973, we find the middleweight model Morini 3 ½ Sport with 350 cc. This had, like most other 4-strokes from Morini, a 2-cylinder V-engine. However, the engine was very sophisticated, compared to the V-engines from other motorcycle manufacturers. The most advanced 350 cc from Moto Morini had, among other things, gear-driven camshafts, dry clutch and electronic ignition.

Meos Moto Morini

Axel Meo from Oslo is one of the very few in Norway who owns a 3 ½ Sport. He bought the bike from a friend in 2014. They had talked a lot about motorcycles, and his friend's fascination with Italian motorcycles eventually spread to Axel. They decided to travel to Germany and import a Moto Morini . The motorcycle that Axel brought home turned out to be in not very good condition, and it ended with an engine failure. However, his passion for Italian two-wheelers did not die, and when Axel was offered to buy his friend's Moto Morini 3 ½ Sport, he did not hesitate. The bike was in very good condition, after an extensive restoration job, so now Axel enjoys rides to the sound of the Italian v-twin.
