Travel tip: Mc-Museums

The motor museums in southern Sweden and Denmark are located close to each other with lots of great things to see.

If you are going on holiday in southern Sweden and/or Denmark, there are some museums that are really worth a visit if you are interested in old motorcycles. Here is my recommendation after visiting three of the four museums I present here.

From Autozeum in Simrishamn

In Scania, specifically in Fabriksgatan 10 in Simrishamn, you will find Autozeum, which I visited in May this year. The museum has an extensive collection of cars and motorcycles spread over 6,000 square meters, with a wide range of brands, models and years. The MC collection shows, among other things, a number of clean and original R-bikes from the 1980s and 1990s, in addition to motorcycles and mopeds of various brands from manufacturers in the USA, Europe and Japan throughout the ages.

From Næstved Automobil, Nostalgi & Samler Museum in Næstved

Næstved Automobil, Nostalgi & Samler Museum is located at Skellet 19 in Næstved on Zealand. The museum advertises that they are Denmark's largest private collection of vintage cars and vintage motorcycles. I have not visited this museum.

From the motorcycle exhibition in Ladegården at Egeskov Castle

Egeskov Slott & Ladegård is located in Kværndrup on Funen, and I visited here in 2019. Ladegården has a large collection of old cars and motorcycles. The motorcycle exhibition itself is extensive, and a bit original in the sense that the motorcycles hang from steel cables from the ceiling. This makes it possible to get up close and walk around the objects. The collection maintains a high standard in terms of how the motorcycles are cared for technically and cosmetically, and not least how they are presented.

From Danmarks Motorcykel Museum in Stubbekøbing

Danmarks Motorcykel Museum You can find Nykøbingvej 54 in Stubbekøbing on the island of Falster, and I visited the museum in 2018. There is a lot of great things to see here, and a large part of the collection consists of very old motorcycles. The width of the motorcycle park in terms of brands, models and years is large, and the collection consists of a total of 200 motorcycles. The museum houses, among other things, a number of rare motorcycles from the first half of the 20th century.
