Few if any brands could match BMW's models when it came to ride comfort and ergonomics. Aerodynamic fairings, shaft drive and torquey boxer engines were the recipe for perfect touring capabilities. I've leafed through BMW's own boast album, the sales brochure from 1979, where the 1000cc RS and RT versions were the top sellers.
