Sarolea 37S 500 Super Sport

Sarolea established itself as a weapons manufacturer in Belgium in 1850, and expanded production to include pedal bicycles in 1892. The first motorcycle from Sarolea came in 1901, making Sarolea one of the world's first motorcycle manufacturers.

The first motorcycle from Sarolea came as previously mentioned in 1901, and this was a simple affair, equipped with a 1-cylinder 4-stroke of 239 cc and with 1.5 hp. Sarolea was, unlike most other contemporary motorcycle manufacturers, known for making most things themselves, such as engines and gearboxes. In the 1920s, Sarolea asserted itself well in racing, and in the latter half of the 1920s they produced around 20,000 motorcycles a year.

The stock market crash of 1929 hit all motorcycle manufacturers hard, and Sarolea was no exception. After World War II, Sarolea once again experienced tough times, and fierce competition from large motorcycle manufacturers such as NSU and BSA . The brand now gradually lost market share, and towards the end of the 1950s a collaboration was initiated with FN and Gillet-Herstal, until the brand disappeared completely in 1963.
