Laverda 750 SF-2 challenged Honda and Norton in the 750 class

The first 750cc motorcycle from Laverda came in 1968. The following year, in 1969, it was upgraded and given the model designation S. The S model showed that Laverda could make motorcycles that matched the speed resources of its competitors very well.

The next step in development was the racer 750 SFC that came in 1971, a bike that is today highly sought after by collectors. The C stood for “Competizione” and the bike made a noticeable impact on the racing scene. Laverda won its debut race with this model during the 24-hour race at Montjuic Park in Barcelona in 1971. With an output of 70 hp, the SFC was good for a top speed of just over 200 km/h. The SFC became a winning machine, and Laverda was not slow to offer a version for street use, more precisely the 750 SF. The 750 cc became a serious challenger to Honda’s super fours CB 750Four and Norton Commando 750. However, it did not become a volume seller. That was due to the price tag!
